The FoodTech Challenge

FoodTech Challenge is a global competition that aims to identify and implement sustainable and technology-driven solutions across the food value chain that enhance the UAE’s food security and self-sufficiency at the national, community and household levels.

The competition will assess entries on three key dimensions:

Technology driven
Sustainable
Commercially viable

Submission Categories:

Community Farming: technological solutions for communal/metropolitan areas
Household Farming: technological solutions for home-based units

Who can apply?

The competition is open to all. University students and early-stage start-ups with prior experience in technological applications in the food and agriculture sectors are especially encouraged to apply.

Candidates can apply individually or form teams of up to four people.

How to apply

Registration is open from 23 September 2019 to 13 February 2020.

Participants will be required to submit:

A detailed case study
1-minute pitch video

Prizes

A total prize pool of $1M will be awarded across the four winners:

$250k per winner, comprising: $100k cash prize and eligibility for $150k in-kind support via Catalyst, an Abu Dhabi-based accelerator program.
