Forward Fooding founders

Our founding story 

Forward Fooding's roots date back to San Francisco, where our founder, Alessio D'Antino started the company (formerly named Crowdfooding) with the aim of broadening the access to capital for food and FoodTech entrepreneurs.

As a former executive at a Fortune 500 beverage company, Alessio experienced first hand the outdated and often frustrating approach to delivering true innovation and decided to move to Silicon Valley in search of inspiration.

After stumbling upon a number of brave entrepreneurs who were building highly innovative food and FoodTech ventures, he started realising that entrepreneurship and tech were going to play a larger role in solving some of the biggest challenges affecting our global food system.

In 2016 our founder was joined by Max Leveau, ex-Googler with a strong passion for food and sustainability and together they have since built a startup network of FoodTech innovators that spans the globe. After successfully building and launching London's first Food & FoodTech Innovation hub in 2018, they replicated it in Barcelona in 2021, and in Milan in 2022.

Since 2015, Forward Fooding has been acting as an ecosystem enabler to spark connections and facilitate meaningful collaborations between entrepreneurs, corporates, and investors, in order to create a brighter future of food.

To build a better food system within the next few decades, both startups and corporates must get involved. We believe in the power of collaboration as breakthrough innovation begins with teamwork, partnership, and cooperation.

We believe that execution is everything in business and there is no 'recipe for success' when it comes to co-creating business opportunities between corporates and startups. Thus, we strongly "advocate" the importance of embracing a 'hustling' attitude to really innovate and quickly adapt to the new business environment. 

Technology and digitization have become 'growth enablers' for any business that is looking to remain competitive while adapting to the ever-changing market scenarios. We think embracing new tech solutions is key to creating a more resilient and sustainable food system.
