Our Top Startups from London’s ‘Just V Show’
On Friday 5th July, Forward Fooding headed over to London Olympia’s ‘Just V Show’, a show which brings together vegans and vegetarians, flexitarians, plant-based, the health-conscious, and all those interested in a meat-free Monday. We got to meet some amazing startups, but here’s four we think are worth watching for in the future!
Sead
Sead Sesame Butter / Tahini Shop The home of sesame butter (aka tahini) #WeOnlyDoSesameSeeds Our Original creamy sesame butter is created from gently… seadfoods.com |
By far one of the stand-out startups of the show was ‘Sead’, a humble-looking stall which posed some of the best sesame butter and most lovely conversation of the show. Their chocolate sesame butter has to be tasted to be believed, it’s that good. The founder, self-titled ‘Sead Planter’, Georgia told Forward Fooding of her far-reaching journey to Sudan to find only the best sesame seeds for her butter. Tasting every single batch, the dedication and love behind the brand was crystal clear. We’re really looking forward to seeing where Sead’s journey takes them, because we know it’ll be a bright, bright future!
Land & Tide
Made with ‘just 3 or 4 ingredients’, the transparency behind Land & Tide’s phenomenal coffees will undoubtedly radicalise the way the mass-market treat their early-morning brew. Founder Amber acts as the exact embodiment of her brand; the honesty with which she tells the story of Land & Tide, which arose after she was frustrated with the lack of dairy-free iced coffees, is so simple that it’s brilliant. While have no idea whether we loved her Oat Iced Mocha or her Oat Iced Coffee better; what we do know is that her coffee is one of the best non-dairy choices out there, and the recipe for future success is undeniable.
Playin Choc
Who knew you could make chocolate even better? The startup Playin Choc did. The infectious enthusiasm from their founders at the Just V Show got us as excited for their products as they were. It’s vegan, it’s organic, it’s made out of just three ingredients meaning there’s no nasties in it, and the packaging is 100% recycled, biodegradable card. Is it possible that this is the world’s first guilt-free chocolate? Speaking of packaging…Playin Choc are owning it with their child-focused, cardboard animals you can create as you eat. Their brand is so much about family, that you feel part of theirs too. We’re really excited to see where Playin Choc goes, but wherever they do, we’re excited to tag along!
Sodada Kombucha
Kombucha…it’s becoming The Thing to watch for in 2019. Sodada are disrupting the scene with their CBD infused Kombucha; not only is their brand committed to zero waste, a big believer in re-using bottles, and charity-donating, but their CBD Kombucha is one of the first in the European market. Making waves across the drinks scene, we’re excited to watch Sodada skyrocket!
