ORBISK | Dutch scaleup committed to reducing food waste using AI technology, has successfully secured €8+ million in an oversubscribed Series A venture capital investment round led by new partner Regeneration.VC and co-led by existing partner PeakBridge. Other investors are new partner Kost Capital, as well as early investors DOEN Participaties and Brabant Development Agency (BOM) and EIT Food’s AgriFoodInvest. The funds raised from the Series A will be used to further develop AI technology, drive operational innovation, enhance customer integrations, and strengthen the global team. Read more

PLANET A FOODS | German FoodTech company specializing in cocoa-free chocolate, has raised $30M in a Series B funding round co-led by Burda Principal Investments and Zintinus. The investment will support the global expansion of its flagship product, ChoViva, and marks the largest sum secured by a European alt-chocolate innovator. Read more

XFARM TECHNOLOGIES | Have announced a partnership with Syngenta France to work on a geospatial AI project for crop detection in France. This partnership combines their expertise to provide French farmers with an advanced tool to help them comply with phytosanitary products application requirements when non-target crops are nearby. ALEPH FARMS | The cultivated meat company has submitted its first regulatory application in Thailand for its Black Angus Petit Steak. The submission was made to the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), with clearance expected by mid-2026.  Read more

WANDA FISH | The cultured seafood company has appointed James Amihood as its new CEO. Amihood, a seasoned executive, succeeds co-founder Daphna Heffetz, who transitions to active vice chairman after more than three years leading the company. Read more

NATURE’S FYND & THE EVERY COMPANY | Precision fermentation startups have dominated the final round of the US Department of Defense’s Distributed Bioindustrial Manufacturing Program (DBIMP), securing grants to plan new US-based biomanufacturing facilities. These awards highlight the government’s commitment to advancing domestic fermentation capacity to strengthen supply chains across food, fuel, and fabrication sectors. Read more

OISHII | Raised $16 million in additional funding to support its expansion into Chicago and the launch of its first international facility in Tokyo, Japan. Led by Resilience Reserve and Miyako Capital, the investment highlights strong backing for Oishii’s premium strawberries, known for their quality and year-round availability. Read more

IMAGINDAIRY | Earns approval from Israel’s Ministry of Health to market its animal-free milk proteins locally. Made using precision fermentation, these proteins mimic traditional dairy in taste and nutrition while being cholesterol-free, lactose-free, and eco-friendly. Read more

UMAMI BIOWORKS | Partnered with Steakholder Foods to commercialize 3D-printed cultivated seafood in a two-year R&D project funded by the Singapore-Israel Industrial R&D grant. Combining 3D printing with cultivated seafood technology, the collaboration aims to produce ethical, high-quality fish products for global markets while reducing the environmental impact of traditional fishing. MUDDY MACHINES | Addresses labor shortages in horticulture with its acquisition of “Squirrel,” a logistics robot from Fox Robotics, which is designed to autonomously transport harvested crops, deliver trays, and enhance productivity by handling physically demanding tasks. Initially focused on berry crops, the robot complements Muddy Machines’ mission to support farm workers and boost efficiency. Read more

ALL G FOODS | Sydney-based company and FoodTech 500 alumni is the first company approved to sell precision-fermented bovine lactoferrin in China, with plans to launch its products in the market by mid-2025. Founder and CEO Jan Pacas highlights China’s strong demand and focus on functional ingredients as key factors. Read more

HOWGOOD | US-based sustainability intelligence platform has introduced FieldScope, a new tool to help food companies measure and report the environmental impact of farming practices. The platform bridges the gap between agricultural methods and corporate sustainability reporting, providing instant calculations for practices like no-till farming and fertilizer use.  Read more

ALMANAC (formerly known as Semios) | Precision agriculture leader acquired the intellectual property and assets of Gro Intelligence, known for its significant agricultural data platform, before it closed. This acquisition enhances Almanac’s AI capabilities and positions the company at the forefront of global agricultural insights. Read more

VERDI | The company has launched a new soil moisture monitoring kit designed to help farmers optimize irrigation practices by providing real-time data on soil moisture levels. By using this technology, farmers can make informed decisions about when and how much to irrigate, potentially improving crop yields and conserving water resources.  Read more

ONEGO BIO | US-Finnish food technology company has opened its new 5,000-square-foot headquarters in San Diego, California, which includes office space, advanced laboratories, and a test kitchen to showcase its flagship product, Bioalbumen. This powdered egg protein is made through precision fermentation and aims to replicate the taste and functionality of traditional egg proteins while reducing environmental impact. Read more

PLANTIBLE FOODS | Secured $30 million in a financing round led by Piva Capital and Siddhi Capital. The company aims to use duckweed, a fast-growing aquatic plant, to produce high-quality protein that is both nutritious and environmentally friendly. Additionally, new backers included Betagro Ventures, Cultivate Next (the VC arm of Chipotle Mexican Grill), Nourish Ventures, while Astanor Ventures made a repeat investment. With this investment, Plantible Foods plans to expand its product offerings and reach more consumers. Read more

KLIM | German agtech startup raised $22 million in a Series A funding round led by BNP Paribas. This funding round — one of the largest for European agtech this year — supports Klim’s international expansion beyond Germany, where it already works with 3,500 farmers, covering 700,000 hectares or 5% of Germany’s farmland. Major food companies like Nestlé, Kaufland, and Aryzta are already among Klim’s clients. Read more
