It’s time to put a face to the name…
We asked our FoodTech 500 top-runners to give us a bit of insight into how they started out as a company and their thoughts on the role of technology in Food innovation. Meet Lena, Tim, Jannis, Fabian and Simon, the team behind Air Up, a cutting edge drinking technology that flavors pure water just by scent by a special technique that brings small scented air bubbles to simple tap water while drinking. Let’s see what the founders had to say.
So tell us a little bit more about you! Where did the idea for your FoodTech company come from?
Air Up team: Our Co-Founders Lena and Tim developed the initial idea of “drinking pure water while having a taste-sensation” during their final thesis at university (product design). With the help of our other Co-Founders (Food-Tec), the Technical University Munich and a team of outstanding F&B-Investors the Product was developed in countless iterations within 2.5 years.
How is tech central to your business?
Air Up team: We are at the intersection between food and tech. With our unique techniques, we bring the world’s first drinking bottles that flavours pure water just by scent to life.
Why do you think it’s important to see the food industry embrace tech?
Air Up team: As we are facing huge environmental changes and as food has a massive social impact, only tech can solve those problems by its root. Chemistry (new additives, new sweeteners, etc) can only make small steps to a healthier and more sustainable world, while real food-tech-innovations can cause REAL changes on the problems of our time.
