Meet Nick, Rob and Fadi from Agri-Neo, one of the FoodTech 500 winners
An interview with Nick Dillon, Rob Wong and Fadi Dagher, founders of Agri-Neo, one of Forward Fooding’s top 500 Food Tech startups.
It’s time to put a face to the name…
We asked our FoodTech 500 top-runners to give us a bit of insight into how they started out as a company and their thoughts on the role of technology in Food innovation. Meet Nick, Rob and Fadi, the powerhouse behind Agri-Neo, a food safety technology company that develops innovative food safety solutions that eliminate harmful pathogens while preserving food quality. Let’s see what they had to say.
So tell us a little bit more about you! Where did the idea for your FoodTech company come from?
Nick, Rob and Fadi: Our world faces major challenges. There may be no bigger challenge than the need to feed our rapidly growing population but in a safe, secure, and sustainable manner. To feed more people in the past, we moved from local subsistence farming to global food production. This transformation achieved its goal of increasing yields and food production, which led to massive growth in population. But this transition has threatened the safety and security of our food, and the sustainability of our world. Food safety is one of the challenges our global food system is facing with food poisoning, toxins on food, and food allergies grabbing news headlines regularly.
Agri-Neo wants to help. We want everyone to have enough to eat, without compromising safety, security, and sustainability. We want our food to be safe, healthy, and do not want to risk harming our environment. Our mission is to help safely feed the world. We are passionate about this because we want to have a growing impact. We do this by solving critical problems that have an impact on the world and by dedicating our careers to building a great company that is on a mission
How is tech central to your business?
Nick, Rob and Fadi: We develop new food safety technology that does not compromise the natural taste, texture, and nutrition of food. To achieve our mission of safely feeding the world, science and technology are at the core of what we do. We have in-house microbiologists and food engineers who continue to investigate new ways of making food safer while preserving food quality.
Why do you think it’s important to see the food industry embrace tech?
Nick, Rob and Fadi: With our rapidly growing population, technology can help ensure food security as well as food safety. New technologies are being applied in the food industry. A good example of this is the blockchain technology now being implemented to enhance food traceability. We believe evolving technology can play a crucial role in eliminating world hunger, food waste, and food safety.
