Meet Tom and Andrew from FoodLogiQ, one of the FoodTech 500 winners
An interview with Tom Finegan and Andrew Kennedy, founders of FoodLogiQ, one of Forward Fooding’s top 500 Food Tech startups.
It’s time to put a face to the name…
We asked our FoodTech 500 top-runners to give us a bit of insight into how they started out as a company and their thoughts on the role of technology in Food innovation. Meet Tom and Andrew, the power-duo behind FoodLogiQ® LLC, the leading SaaS provider of traceability, food safety and supply chain transparency solutions. Let’s see what the founders had to say.
So tell us a little bit more about you! Where did the idea for your FoodTech company come from?
Tom and Andrew: FoodLogiQ was formed out of Clarkston Consulting in 2006 following the implementation of a Canadian cattle traceability program. Founded on this heritage of traceability, FoodLogiQ and its customer solutions grew as it became clear there was a need in the market for end-to-end traceability at food companies. The consumers and the customers both wanted the same thing – robust information about where their food was coming from. Leveraging the best technology practices and a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, we’re proud to have created FoodLogiQ Connect, a cloud-based supplier transparency and traceability solution that unlocks massive value across food company supply chains. When your company can provide traceability information down to the lot-level – to customers, to regulators and to shareholders – everyone benefits. We’re on a mission to change the food industry by mapping the world’s food supply chain.
How is tech central to your business?
Tom and Andrew: Our products were created using state-of-the-art technology in ways that help simplify the supply chain for our customers, enabling them to have complete visibility and whole chain traceability on a single platform.
Manage + Monitor
Centralize your supply chain in the Cloud and cut the time it takes to manage your suppliers in half.

Recall + Response

Monitor responses and completion actions through your live dashboard as your recall unfolds.
Why do you think it’s important to see the food industry embrace tech?
Tom and Andrew: Companies understand there are many drivers moving them to become more transparent. One of the challenges is engaging all parties to participate in order to facilitate end-to-end traceability and transparency. This will require new ways of doing business, changing internal and external processes, and embracing innovative approaches to collecting product data, including the adoption of new technologies. As we move forward, companies need to adopt technology that offers precision and accuracy where it’s needed most. They need tools to communicate across supply chains to prevent tainted or poor quality products from being delivered to consumers by proactively implementing corrective actions before major issues arise.
