Buzzing event — some more pictures of the event can be found here
On the 15th of November 2018 we launched our ‘Future of Food’ FoodTech meetup series and it was simply epi-delicious…very much in the spirit of collaboration to create a brighter future of food we have decided to partner up with alexandra welch from Harvester City to bring these series of event to life at our Food & FoodTech Innovation hub. The objective of these meetups is pretty simple: build and foster the first real Foodtech community in London by bringing together all the foodies and techies and creating a thriving environment for them to connect, share and work together and we can’t wait to run the next one.
The meetup kicked off with our founder, alessio dantino and alexandra welch sharing how this idea came to life and why they decided to join forces to create London’s first (real) Foodtech community.
Then we had an insightful fireside chat with Jonathan Petrides from All Plants who shared very openly with the audience his ‘rollercoaster journey’ that took him from opening up a mobile bank in Africa to experimenting with plant-based recipes out of his kitchen table to raising £8M from VCs.
We then had a great line-up of food & foodtech entrepreneurs includingStephanie Seege from kAAKAO, Ben Holden from Koepala Packaging, Robbie Rees from The Green Grill
Ben Holden from Koepala Packaging took to the stage to present their innovative packaging solution that reduces plastic waste; using his words
“The talk was well received and has generated a number of great connections to help Koepala’s footing in the UK market. It is always a pleasure to talk to interested audiences on the subjects of circular economy and innovations. We will definitely be back!”
Then, Francesco Perticararifrom Silicon Roundabout Hub went on stage and gave us an insightful view into how tech startups approach pitching. He shared with us the importance of storytelling when it comes raising funds.
The event finished up with a great panel discussion around “The Power of Social” — How social media is changing the way we learn about food and nutrition and how you can use it to strengthen your community and jumpstart your brand’s growth”.
Panelists included Plant-Based Chef, Brett Cobley from EpiVegan, Mary Lynch, founder of Onist Food and Emilie Vanpoperinghe, Co-founder of Oddbox.
More than 120 people including entrepreneurs, foodies and techies joined ‘the feast’. Most people agree that our food system needs to be redesigned and we thoroughly believe that only us as human beings can fix it. With these meetup series, we create a safe environment for sparking connections among passionate foodies, techies, entrepreneurs, industry experts who will work collaboratively to do their share to better this system trough foodtech.
A big shout out to all our generous sponsors including the fermented-food ninjas from @CulturedClub and our friends from @Water Bomb for making this event even more delicious!
